Earlier this year, U.S. semiconductor manufacturer Atmel Corporation, based in San José, California, announced the expansion of its maXTouch-T series of capacitive touchscreen controllers. The mXT106xT2 series, which was in production at the time, has been commercially available since May. Since then, it has been the flagship among the touchscreen controllers currently on the market.
Interference immunity for displays from 7 - 8.9"
According to the manufacturer, the T-series offers all the important functions that modern smartphones need. In addition to hover, as well as active and passive stylus support, the new series also offers improved interference immunity for larger display formats from 7 - 8.9" inches. The series is equipped with the Adaptive-Sensing Architecture specially developed by the manufacturer, which is characterized by low energy consumption, which contributes to a much longer battery life.
Acting without physical contact with the surface
Atmel is currently the only manufacturer to offer a finger hover function with up to 20mm spacing on devices larger than smartphones with its maXTouch product range. This gives users the opportunity to interact with the device without physical contact with the interface. The following video shows a small demo.
Interelectronix has high-quality single chip and circuit board controllers in its range and also uses products from Atmel due to the convincing advantages.
