In May 2017, analysts at Gartner Inc. again provided a report entitled Market Share Alert: Preliminary, Mobile Phones, Worldwide, 1Q17" and "Market Share: Final PCs, Ultramobiles andMobilePhones, All Countries, 1Q17 Update. This is primarily about the worldwide sale of smartphones to end consumers.
According to the report, global sales in the first quarter of 2017 are set at 380 million units, an increase of 9.1 percent compared to the first quarter of 2016. There is a trend that smartphone buyers are happy to pay a higher price if you can get a better phone in return.
Affordable prices, great features
A fact that mainly influences Chinese manufacturers such as Huawei, Oppo and Vivo in their strategy, namely to produce phones that provide supposedly desirable features at an affordable price. Their combined market share in the first quarter of 2017 was 24 percent, an increase of 7 percentage points compared to the previous year (see chart).
