Press release
For applications of industrial process visualization and especially for the demanding explosion areas, Interelectronix has realized a 24'' GFG ULTRA touch screen with its original patented glass film glass touch technology. This touch system meets the requirements in potentially explosive environments particularly well thanks to its outer micro-glass layer.
Interelectronix has recognized the demand for large diagonals in industrial environments, especially for process visualization and in demanding explosion areas, and provides a suitable solution with its 24'' GFG ULTRA touch screens. The original patented glass film glass touch technology from Interelectronix is also suitable for Zone 1/2 (gas) and 21/22 (dust) hazardous areas. The combination of a resistive touch system with a glass surface offers several advantages: The resistive touch technology can be operated with any object and is at the same time particularly reliable and durable. The surface made of borosilicate glass is absolutely robust, i.e. scratch, acid, chemical and temperature resistant. Critical in hazardous areas is also the electrical charge, as found in conventional polyester surfaces. This is eliminated in the GFG ULTRA due to the outer micro-glass layer.
The use of electrical equipment in potentially explosive environments (hazardous areas) is subject to a number of requirements. The resistive glass film glass touchscreens from Interelectronix can be operated absolutely reliably with finger, glove or pen and, thanks to the patented ULTRA technology, are waterproof, chemically resistant, impact, scratch and acid resistant and tested for extreme temperatures from 70° C to -25° C. For very demanding environments, the GFG touchscreen is equipped with a high-quality laminate: a 3 mm chemically tempered glass is laminated to the back of the touchscreen. The total thickness of this laminated glass structure is then 7 mm. Thus, the touchscreen can absorb more than 5 joules of impact energy and still remains glove-operateable.
As elsewhere in industrial environments, machine controls, process visualization and process automation devices controlled by touchscreens are used in hazardous areas. This has a number of advantages, as it simplifies the human-machine interface (HMI) and eliminates the need for additional input devices such as keyboards or mice. Within the hazardous areas, for example, Remote PC terminals or Panel PCs with touch control are used, which are connected to the network in the secure environment. Such touch-controlled systems are also used for video and camera surveillance.
Suitable for industrial applications in harsh and clean room conditions
Hardly any other industry offers such different environments for a touchscreen as industry. These can be very harsh conditions, ranging from extreme temperatures to shocks and applications in dust and dirt. On the other hand, touch applications are used in cleanroom environments or potentially explosive areas. Accordingly, the function of the touchscreens must not be impaired by shocks or vibrations, but at the same time they must be absolutely chemically resistant, for example in order to be able to be cleaned with different substances. Interelectronix uses GFG ULTRA technology to develop very robust and impact-resistant touchscreens that are also extremely difficult to scratch. And even in the event of a deep scratch, the ULTRA touch panel continues to work perfectly. ULTRA touchscreens are equipped with an extremely hard borosilicate glass surface. Even falling tools cannot harm the touchscreen and do not endanger production.
With the patented GFG ULTRA technology,Interelectronix offers touchscreens in a wide variety of formats, which, in contrast to conventional resistive systems, also includes advantages of capacitive technology, such as insensitivity to moisture, extreme temperatures and chemicals. In this way Interelectronix can guarantee the reliability of the touchscreen in a wide variety of environments. Even possible interference radiation from other devices does not hinder the Glas Film Glas GFG touchscreens, because they have such a high EMC compatibility that they are even used for sensitive defense technology.
