Electromagnetic safety for sensitive applications
Touchscreen malfunctions can be caused not only by climatic, mechanical or chemical stress factors, but also by electromagnetic influences.
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) refers to the condition that technical devices do not interfere with each other through unwanted electrical or electromagnetic effects.
There are two main issues involved:
- A touch screen must function flawlessly under the influence of other sources of electromagnetic interference.
- A touch screen itself must not generate any sources of electromagnetic interference through its operation that have a disturbing effect on the human organism or other devices.
Kurz summed up: A touchscreen must not affect other devices and must not be itself influenceable.
