According to Gartner survey results, rising spending on semiconductor investments is having an impact worldwide in 2017 and is already causing a significant increase of 10.2 percent.

Gartner Inc. is one of the world's leading independent IT consulting, market analysis and research firms. It published the report in April 2017 under the title MarketShare: SemiconductorWaferFab Equipment, Worldwide, 2016.

According to Gartner, in 2017, spending will rise to about $77.7 billion. Compared to the previous quarter, an increase of 1.4 percent was recorded (see chart).

Semiconductors are also used in touchscreen production. They are solids whose electrical conductivity is between that of electrical conductors and that of non-conductors. That is why semiconductors play a crucial role in electrical engineering (especially electronics).
