Electromagnetic compatibility
- EMC sensitive areas *Military *Medical
Electromagnetic compatibility is an important requirement for touch screens. For many areas of application, the Electromagnetic Compatibility Act (EMC Act) provides the respective regulations.
Electromagnetic compatibility must be considered from two aspects for touch screens:
- Own electromagnetic radiation
Touchscreens must be adequately shielded for numerous applications. One of the most important requirements for technical applications in military, clinical or other EMC-sensitive locations is a low level of electromagnetic radiation.
In the military, EMC is elementary for shielding so that devices cannot be located by the enemy.
In clinical use, a high level of shielding is important so that the touchscreens cannot influence sensitive measuring instruments.
- Electromagnetic radiation
A touch screen must also function smoothly under the influence of electromagnetic radiation from other devices.
Due to their special design and the materials used, both the GFG touchscreens and the projected capacitive touchscreens from Interelctronix meet the two aforementioned requirements for electromagnetic compatibility.
RF shields
Interelectronix places the highest priority on compliance with the required standards in the production of the touchscreens and accordingly uses only very high-quality materials for EMC damping.
Particularly recommended are the ULTRA touchscreens and PCAP touchscreens, which are ideally suited for integration into EMC-critical applications thanks to their low electromagnetic emissions.
Blackened Copper Mesh
Interelectronix uses blackened copper mesh as standard to shield its touchscreens and achieves optimal EMC values thanks to this high-quality coating.
If an extremely high level of shielding is required, mesh is preferred. The "mesh fabric" offers the highest possible shielding and leads to extremely high standards of EMC compatibility.
ITO Foil
In the event that the best possible optics are more important than particularly strong shielding, Interelectronix regular ITO uses coated films to attenuate electromagnetic radiation.
Coating with ITO film has the advantage that it leads to visually very high-quality and appealing results. The shielding associated with this method is suitable for almost all "non-EMC sensitive" areas of application.
