Military Environmental Testing Standard

MILITARY ENVIRONMENTAL TEST STANDARD

The military specification MIL-STD-810 is an extremely comprehensive document issued by the DOD (Department of Defense). It contains test procedures designed to verify the environmental performance of materials and equipment to be used by a ministry or agency of the DoD. 24 categories of test procedures are discussed, with numerous application-specific variations of each category.

The military standard MIL-STD-810 provides guidance for the development of specific military test procedures to ensure that the material procured by the Department of Defense will work properly in the proposed military application.

The claim "MIL-STD-810 Compliant" has no real meaning, the specific parts of the MIL standard that are applicable need to be defined and explained. There is little or no value to certify a single component to MIL-STD-810. The entire device must be certified exactly for the specific purpose and application of the device.
