What is glass?
Glass is an inorganic, non-crystalline, amorphous solid that is often completely transparent or translucent. It is virtually inert, non-porous, hard yet brittle and impervious to most liquids, acids and gases.
At room temperature, glass is almost an ideal elastic solid, a perfect electrical and thermal insulator, and highly resistant to corrosion.
Glass isotropy is one of the unique properties that makes it so indispensable. Isotropy means that the thermal expansion, electrical resistance, and tensile strength are identical in any direction through the material.
